Road Trip: Day 1

Seattle, WA - Park City, UT

Start time: 7:30 a.m. PST

Like I mentioned, we didn't go to bed until 2:30, so it was an early morning. Needless to say, Cheryl did the first leg of driving as I'm not much of a "morning person." The first stop was the Glassey house to say one last goodbye before the big trip. Unbeknownst to my dad, we "kidnapped" a Mr. Bill toy from his car and took it on our trip. (spoiler alert) We didn't run into Paris Hilton or anything, but it was awesome to have Mr. Bill along for the ride!

The most memorable part of the first day was seeing a wild peacock near Yakima. Thrilling. It was about halfway through this 13-hour beast of a day that we decided we'd be splitting the Colorado to Durham portion of the trip into three days, rather than two, as originally planned.

Mr. Bill got his first taste of the road at the Oregon Trail State Park, where he rode in a real covered wagon.

We got to Liz & Jean's cabin at 10:48 p.m. MST. It was my first time there and I loved it. It's cute, quaint and peaceful, as it is tucked into the mountains and their neighbors are few and far between.

Mr. Bill was excited to see some of the preserved wildlife on display in the cabin...

Miles driven: 926.7
